VALENTINE Public School is encouraging children to develop a lifelong, positive attitude towards physical activity through the Sports in Schools program.

The program has visited the school every week for the past three years, providing a fun physical education program for all students.

Qualified instructors bring a range of exciting activities and equipment.

The lessons run for 45 minutes each and every lesson has a different gross motor skills focus, ranging from ball skills, to flexibility, hand-eye co-ordination and co-operation skills.

After each session, the instructors provide a safety tip of the week.

"Sport in Schools is a fun fitness program that I look forward to every week," Year 6 student Jessica Stocker said.

Year 3 student Sebastian Lewandowski said he thought "sport and exercise is good for people because it is healthy and fun".

"I think fitness is fun and it is healthy. Sometimes it is hard!," kindergarten student Grace Lane said.

The Sports in Schools program is run in conjunction with Valentine Public School's physical education program, with the ultimate aim of increasing children's participation in physical activity.
